Emergency care for preterm babies

17.01.2014

On January 17, 2014 the Ustin Maltsev charitable foundation has delivered 60 peripheral cannulas, 20 bottles of glucose and 20 feeding catheters CH-6 for preterm babies as a part of fundraising project for Kherson Regional Children's Hospital.
The preterm babies need special feeding as their digestive systems are not yet developed. The feeding through tube or intravenous feeding is used until preterm babies start to suck and swallow. Sometimes a child is fed through tube with mother's milk, which contains proteins protecting child's organism from infections and speeding his growth.
The money for above mentioned items were collected by Kherson philanthropists who already participated in such charity actions. The necessary items will be supplied to abandoned children. "Preterm children are especially subjected to different diseases as their organs are not formed yet. Such newborns need special medical treatment and care until their body systems will be completely developed. Natalia Vladimirovna Bakina, head of pathology department for newborns and preterm children told us that earlier the Ustin Maltsev Foundation had delivered electronic scales and other required medical materials for their department.
The department of pathology for newborns and preterm children works 24/7 providing special care for babies born with illnesses. And every day doctors help many newborns and preterm babies who need special care from their first days of life.
"It's hard to be indifferent seeing such babies, who need special care from their first days of life. We want to thank all our partners, philanthropists and patrons who always support such projects directed on saving children's lives" - said Olga Lyaskovskaya, a representative of the Ustin Maltsev foundation.
