Viktor Pinchuk Foundation opened the neonatal Centre Cradles of Hope in Kherson

On July 7, 2010 on the basis of Kherson Regional Children's Clinical Hospital, Victor Pinchuk Foundation opened the twenty first Cradles of Hope neonatal centre. Foundation spent UAH 1 279 370 for setting up the Cradles of Hope neonatal centre in Kherson.
To equip the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Kherson Regional Children's Hospital received the invasive and non invasive artificial pulmonary ventilation equipment, incubators for newborn care, open intensive care unit, monitoring units to control pacients' vital bodily functions, modern phototherapy laser lamps, infusion pumps, a computer workstation, etc.
"For the first time of the existance of the program Cradles of Hope other organizations have joined our project", noticed Viktor Vakaryuk, Vice-President of Viktor Pinchuk Foundation, who was personally present at the opening ceremony. Ustin Maltsev Foundation decided to draw the inhabitants' attention to the project. Within the charity marathon which was organized by the foundation some monetary means for buying additional equipment were collected. Money which was collected by Ustin Maltsev Foundation was spent on purchasing of two sets of resuscitation MR-100 for premature babies, 3 digital scales BD-590, fabric for sewing diapers. A metal-plastic window was placed at the Department.
"We are very pleased that Victor Pinchuk Foundation allowed us, inhabitants of Kherson region, to join the project. It's a great honor for us," said Ustin Maltsev,"we hope to further fruitful cooperation". Thanks to the installed equipment, additional patient beds in case of emergency appeared in the hospital. Besides this, the modern equipment will allow to expand the specialists' professional opportunities.
Lyudmila Lyatetskaya, the head physician of Kherson Regional Children's Clinical Hospital told that the hospital is a medical and prophylactic institution of 540 patient beds. All the types of specialized care for children are concentrated in the hospital. The Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care provides emergency assistance to more than 400 babies a year, including ones with very low birth weight. The hospital is the best in Ukraine on treating the infants after surgery. For the first time in Ukraine the most modern methods of nursing infants with the extremely low weight have been used.
"That's why we need so invaluable work of Viktor Pinchuk Foundation of fitting the centre out with modern and high quality equipment to save life and health of each child", explained Lyudmila Lyatetskaya.
