Feast of Saints Peter and Paul

   On July 12 the Orthodox Church celebrates the feast day of Saints Peter and Paul. All family members try to attend a festive dinner at their homes. This day wife has to feed her husband with fish to keep peace, love and harmony in the family. According to folk signs after July 12, the daytime begins to shorten saying "Peter and Paul have shortened the day". It has been observed that after St. Peter and Paul day nightingales and cuckoos fall silent. As folks say: "If you hear a cuckoo after July 12th, - the summer will be warm and long and the winter will wait to come. If it rains this day, the harvest will be rich".

"I have to say it's a great day for my family too. My daughter was born on St.Peter and Paul day. In the morning I've attended the mass and handed over icons to the church. I want to congratulate all of us with this spiritual holiday. Let us pray and ask God's blessing for all us. Let all Ukrainians use their wisdom and hearts to unite and end the military crisis in our country. Let God help us build a peaceful and successful Ukraine "- Ustin Maltsev
