The ceremony of the Chernobyl disaster victims was held in Kherson

   On April 26, 2013 the ceremony of the Chernobyl disaster victims was held in the park named after Lenin Komsomol in Kherson. The event was attended by the acting mayor, the city council Zoya Beregnaya, the deputy head of the executive office, the business manager of the regional council Valery Grigorenko, the head of disability organizations, the member of the " Ukraine Chernobyl Union" Vyacheslav Ivanovich, and the public figure Ustin Maltsev. The residents of the city, the representatives of Chernobyl organizations, the government agencies, the foundations and civil society organizations also were invited on the event. 

   «"The Chernobyl disaster was a national tragedy and holds a special place in the history of our country. I express my sympathy and gratitude for the memory of those who gave their health and their lives to eliminate the catastrophe", - said the managing director of the regional council Valery Grigorenko.
   The acting mayor, the city council secretary Zoya Beregnaya, thanked all the participants of The remembrance Day: " My family also took part in the tragedy. My brother was the liquidator of the Chernobyl accident. I wish everyone will plant a flower in memory, and we could come to remember the heroes who gave their lives in the Chernobyl catastrophe".
The veterans of the Chernobyl disaster also laid the flowers to the monument.

   The public figure, Ustin Maltsev said: "There is no man who would not be grateful to people whose memory we honor today. We must always remember the terrible tragedy to avoid such disaster in the future".
   The note: On April 26, 1986 the most destroying accident in the history of nuclear power engineering happened in the North of Ukraine. All citizens of Ukraine and USSR took part in the liquidation of effects of this tragedy. The number of people who were affected by this accident and who lived here at the moment of putting the monument was 8973 persons, including 2381 children. About 3,5 thousand people were liquidated to Kherson lands from the area of radioactive contamination. About 2962 Kherson people volunteered to take part in the liquidation of terrible effects of the accident, 304 persons died.
